Is there any belief that a game once owned by Esport has been damaged beyond repair? One example is Rainbow six siege, which suffered greatly.

Overwatch. I remember when the game had a much more enjoyable vibe back then. Then the esports craze took over and affected the lower ranks of other games too. Quickplay stopped being competitive for those just wanting to practice. Everyone got frustrated often, and the games really started to decline without any real cause except the community.

I played the game for fun, trying to improve with random teams and enjoy myself.
In the end, I stopped because something unexpected happened.

Competitive FPS has existed since the 1990s, simply letting players know.
Back then, in the early 2000s for instance, things were definitely more enjoyable and each game fostered a sense of community and rivalry.
Depending on your team or squad’s strength, you’d find yourself competing against similarly skilled groups. If your team improved, you’d rise through the ranks much like diamond or other leagues today, but with people you knew and could collaborate with against well-prepared opponents.
Squads usually had servers and tournaments ran comp modes to ensure skill-based and fair play.
At that time, there were ladders for regular competition, followed by tournaments where squads competed for the top spots. The next season, the strongest teams typically advanced into an invite bracket, eventually leading to professional teams.
Generally, a whole group would climb together, as teams often stayed close-knit.
Unlike now, when everyone strives to be a solo superstar in a fast-changing environment, the FPS scene faced a similar challenge. The MMO community shifted toward more casual, random play with easy rewards, reducing reliance on teamwork.
For our fun gaming experience, we enjoyed a lot of enjoyment in both community servers and team-based servers, though most players stuck to the same groups. People often got to know each other through tags, and it seemed more rewarding to build rivalries and friendships during those days.

I believe Starcraft II serves as an excellent illustration of top-tier esports quality.

I guess you could say pro league doesn't ruin games it's just the whole process to getting to a pro league has shifted in a not so great way.
Now there isn't much middle ground where teams or even less than pro leagues can cultivate/justate. the amature leagues are pretty much exitinct really in most FPS now.
Now people just try to solo as much as possible and get noticed instead of bringing up a team with them and seeing how far it can go.
If your a star on some mid ranged team and you get poached or picked up into a pro team or if your team can hang with pro's over time those used to be how people moved up into those spaces.. but it feels like those stepping stones or platforms of access are no longer really there.
I think its hurt pro gaming and competitive gaming in general.

I don't understand what they're discussing. Overwatch is the same relaxed game for me as it has always been—I just enjoy Quick Play.
If you're playing ranked, then naturally it becomes meta and players will be trying hard. It's the same across all games, especially as they get more mature.

Overwatch is a poor fairy example. This game was always meant to be an esports title. The issues players face are probably due to the community changing over time.

Imo, it's a bit of a mix. Esports often leads to toxic environments, but there are instances where games are designed specifically for esports, such as Fortnite.
