Hi So this is my PC: CPU: i7 4790K Graphics: GTX970 Ram: Corsair vengeance 2133mhz 16GB Storage: Standard 1tb and 500gb SSD Motherboard: MSI Z97A G7 It's nowhere near the top end gaming PC's but I think its a decent build. I got a 144hz screen and I just love to see these sweet smooth 144 frames Thing is, even with quite old games (battlefield 4) I get around 100-110fps on ultra settings What could possibly bottleneck in this setup? Is there a single thing that is bottlenecking it or is it basically all that I can squeeze out of it? Its not a matter of life or death for me to get these 144fps in all games but it would be nice to get it. Would adding another 970 in SLI boost my framerate?

Absolutely, that's correct—4790K is accurate.

You need to adjust the game configurations and possibly the display settings.

The issue would likely occur on the GPU, especially if you aim for more than 144fps without using SLI.

I understand what you're aiming for. I don't want to waste £250 on extra components just to discover the CPU is limiting. Still, a setup with two 970s might work well for VR. Could a 750W power supply handle that load?

750W from a trusted manufacturer is sufficient. By the way, I own an i7-4770K and a 980Ti, and I consistently hit over 144fps in Battlefield 4, so using an i7-4790K wouldn’t strain two 980Tis unless you’re playing very demanding titles.

You're running a solid build with an i5 4690K and 970's in SLI, maintaining 144fps. The 4790K remains perfect for gaming, won't cause performance issues.

The GPU is likely limiting your frame rate to 144 FPS. Although Battlefield 4 is somewhat outdated, it remains visually appealing and challenging when played at high settings and resolutions.
