Hello everyone, I’m looking for your advice on my gaming PC setup. It has an i5-9400F, GTX 1660 Super, and 16GB RAM. When playing games like Doom Eternal or The Witcher 3, I notice frequent stuttering and reduced performance. After updating drivers with NVDIA’s GeForce Experience, the issue persists. For Doom Eternal, optimizing through NVIDIA’s tool didn’t help. In The Witcher 3, I had to lower settings, disable blur effects, and turn off hair effects to get smoother gameplay, but it still slows down. A virus scan came back clean, so I’m unsure what’s causing the problem. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure which antivirus software you're using, could you clarify?

Doom Eternal on Vulkan and The Witcher 3 with the latest graphics update are both possible, but each has its own requirements and availability.

Hi @ApolloX75 and @191x7, thanks for your responses. I'm using Avast for my antivirus. I'm unsure if Doom Eternal runs in Vulkan or OpenGL—I'll look that up. Also, the Witcher update today is confusing; could it be a hardware problem? I noticed it makes a moderate whirring noise, and the last temperature reading was 49 degrees during the Doom load.

Remove Avast immediately and rely on Windows Security for protection.

Hi, I've been using Avast for some time now. Could you help me understand why it isn't working well? I might have missed something; maybe it's related to my current settings. I'm out of town this weekend and will look into the game configurations to see if that's the issue.

For the GPU, I checked the stats in NVIDIA GeForce Experience with alt z.
