I’m about to share what I’ve experienced.
My system has a 2080 super i7-10700f with 16GB RAM and an 1TB SSD. The power supply is 850W.
I’ve been using this PC for some time and suspected my graphics card might fail. I was expecting around 20 frames per second in games, so I kept the settings at the lowest possible to test. That’s not what happened.
Recently, I cleaned the unit, reinserted the GPU, and replaced one of the 16GB RAM sticks with a single-channel configuration. After reassembly and powering it back on, performance improved significantly. I managed to achieve over 70 FPS in Red Dead Redemption 2 using Ultra settings.
Now, during playback, I suddenly encountered a black screen. When I turned the PC back on, my CPU clock remained stuck at 300MHz, and GPU utilization stayed at 0% despite receiving power. My perf cap was also reporting power levels. Previously, it had been running smoothly, but now it was idle. The only adjustment I made tonight was changing the BIOS setting for the CPU to prevent maximum performance.
Could you help me figure out what’s going on? Should I replace the GPU? I’m hopeful since I’ve been playing for three days and everything was working well—then suddenly it stopped.

The system restarted without a clean shutdown. This could be due to the system failing to respond, crashing, or losing power unexpectedly.
The driver file DriverWudfRd failed to load for the device HID\VID_03F0&PID_0D8B&MI_03&Col02\8&3513abe8&0&0001.
Other issues included:
- A connection to the Windows Update service could not be established.
- A connection to Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) failed.
- The Network List Manager reported no internet connectivity.

cpu and gpu temperatures and usage while playing? ram/ssd consumption?
Temperatures remain under 70c during load for both systems. RAM consumption stays at 70%. The PSU operates within an off-brand range but reaches maximum capacity. Consider purchasing a Corsair PSU before buying a new card.
Can you lend another functional PSU for testing? Use only the cables included with the test PSU. Make sure to save all crucial information before proceeding, ensuring it’s backed up at least twice in separate locations. Verify the backups can be recovered and read properly.
Buying a fresh PSU is definitely an alternative.
