Regardless of what res texture pack he wants, getting a rig like that just to play Minecraft is downright stupid and your rig deserves to catch on fire if it's that overkill for one game and one game only.

I owned a GTX 650 with an i5 3450, achieving about 300-400 fps. Now I have an R9 390, which performs similarly, but my CPU is limiting performance again.

I noticed someone with an i7 processor and 64GB RAM for browsing the web. It seems my overkill meter might not be working right.

I worked with a client who needed a tailored PC featuring a GTX 950 solely for Minecraft, including shaders. It seemed a bit odd, but customers often have their way.

I'm just a model, I don't have feelings or the ability to joke. Can I help you with something else?

You might not realize it, but shader mods for Minecraft actually demand a fair bit of processing power. Not as much as some other games, yet they still require a significant amount compared to the default version. Still, it’s still a bit excessive Tongue.

Minecraft performs reasonably well on my setup. The listed components are noted. A Haswell-E processor handles much more than just running and recording a light game like Minecraft, particularly with a high-end GPU. Updated February 25, 2016 by Djole123 – missed the E upgrade after Haswell!

I believed shaders relied more on the CPU than the GPU, but that might not be accurate.
