Hi! Yes, you can link the two devices without using two Ethernet cables. There are ways to connect them via USB or other methods depending on your setup. Just let me know what you'd like to try next. Also, I hope the forum is a good fit for your question. Thank you!

You won't be able to connect the display from one laptop to another as a monitor unless you own a rare model with a display input port. Additionally, you can link both devices via Ethernet using a switch, but this setup doesn't let you use one laptop to display content on the other's screen.

Streaming on Steam in your home? If you lack a Wi-Fi signal: Connect your phone to act as a Wi-Fi hotspot, then link both devices, though expect lower quality than 4K.

You're looking for a straightforward machine-to-machine connection. I can explain why cabled internet often works better than wireless for such setups. Regarding your second question, yes, you can run a 4K game on a 1080p monitor and stream it via Steam to another 4K screen, but performance may vary based on resolution scaling and network stability.

It would require extremely high-speed internet for a smooth experience.

I considered 4K game streaming to be fairly typical. With my 10MB/s download speed, it’s unclear whether that’s a meaningful figure.

On an 8mbps connection, I can stream 720p60 videos and streams smoothly with little delay, though 1080p30 or better feels slow to load. 4K isn't possible at that speed, just 1080p at best.

Fascinating. You can play 4k videos at five or six times the normal playback rate.

There’s no feasible method to replicate Steam’s video game streaming via a wired link, especially without relying on a home network. It doesn’t make sense for a connection that works over the internet to also function through a direct cable.

Hey everyone, I own a 4K 2-in-1 and a 1080p gaming PC. I’ve linked them via Ethernet and streaming works perfectly. Can I run a 4K game on the gaming laptop so the 2-in-1 displays it clearly at 4K resolution? I’d appreciate your advice! Thanks!
