Using tools such as DSR for upscaling to 4K offers marginally improved quality, though it comes at a significant performance cost and won’t truly deliver 4K resolution. Therefore, the answer is no.

I see; I think I’m still confused about what steam streaming actually involves. It sounds like it’s video recording with a live feed? I’d have liked something more advanced than that. Thanks for your help and advice! So now I realize it’s not possible to use my 4K notebook screen in games through Steam Streaming, right? What I expected was that the data or calculations sent to the gaming laptop would be sent via Steam Stream, not a direct capture of what appears on the 1080p display.

For instance, increasing the gaming laptop's resolution from 1080p to 4K means the higher-resolution display can only display what the original 1080p provides. The 4K screen offers no real benefit in showing finer details.

Steam streaming is compatible with 4K resolution, which means using Nvidia DSR on your gaming laptop should work as expected. You can verify this yourself since you mentioned the stream is active. Try playing a game at 1080p first, then switch to 4K to compare the visuals.

Thank you for your message. It seems there are still some unclear areas, and I’m not able to notice any enhancements in texture quality. The Steam stream is set to the highest setting. I also used DSR and adjusted the resolution while playing. I’m connected via Ethernet to USB 3.0, though I’m unsure if that affects bandwidth. Even at 1080p, it still appears blurry. I think the 640MBps should suffice, but maybe the Ethernet cable only supports 1000Mbps instead of 1000Mbps? I’d like to check that possibility. Appreciate your assistance!

A gigabit link would be ideal since 100 Mb could be limiting. I understand that streaming 4K content in my home works much better with a 1 Gb switch. It's not just about the cables, but the ports or network cards needing gigabit support.

Using a USB3 ethernet adapter with 'LAN Speed Test' shows speeds around 315 mbps for writing and 626 mbps for reading, which suggests bandwidth should handle 4K without trouble. However, streaming Steam still looks poor—display response is over 20ms and picture quality is noticeably degraded even at 1080p. I’m considering switching to Nvidia Shield.
