I intend to revisit this later, wanting a closer inspection of apps needing admin privileges and understanding what they access. I’ll likely try Steam at the same time. As mentioned before, I’m specifically seeking a GOG-style experience. I’d like to see more players in the digital game distribution space, because it seems far more logical than shipping numerous small items globally. Occasionally I manage to find a decent deal on a physical copy, along with the attractive packaging, but as I’ve said earlier, it doesn’t really justify moving digital content in large boxes across the world.
I purchased the SPORE disk for $4 from a shop, and it was a great offer.
Discs present a completely different situation from the seller's perspective. Since they're already stored in your warehouse, you must dispose of them or risk significant losses. This often pushes sellers to offer discounts to move the inventory. Sadly, some retailers appear completely unaware of this reality and may face serious consequences.
However, I still prefer disks over digital, which is why I enjoy downloading GOG and burning it onto a DVD or Blu-ray.
I own a massive storage setup packed with CDs, DVDs, BluRay discs, floppies, and even jazz tapes, but I don’t really rely on them much—it’s just simpler to use a NAS. The DVD drive remains a must-have for my laptop, and sometimes I just enjoy the nostalgia :-D. Plus, I have countless different Linux distributions available on DVDs, each suited for a specific purpose.
I understand your question, but I'm curious about the experience of holding that disk.
Well, that wasn't really my style. I focused solely on practical use. The same applies to my motorcycle—I was surprised to discover that many riders believe just caring for it, making it look nice, will improve its performance. Probably this is why I always have a bike that looks less than perfect at the track , but I'm glad to say it functions well, even though I haven't cleaned it in three years.
