Physics score is low
It's intriguing. My physics core isn't very strong, but the latest FireStrike achieved 7113 with a 4670K on stock clocks. Is there a way to verify if dual channel is being used? My general performance is also not great—I have two HD7850s in Crossfire and the results are 7232. I see comparable CPUs scoring over 8000 easily. What steps can I take to improve?
Just some random information for anyone it may help:
1.) If you're running an NVIDIA GPU - use the NVIDIA control panel to change a few settings for the 3DMark exe - such as ensuring:
a.) Power management mode is set to - Prefer Maximum Performance (Manage 3D settings - program settings)
b.) Try changing your PhysX processor to your CPU instead of your GPU (Configure Surround, PhysX). This is good for reducing your GPU strain (and temperature) if your CPU is good enough!
2.) Ensure your GPU fans are set manually (just for the test) - the delay in kicking in can lose you a few FPS
3.) Even if you're card temp is fine - look up what temp your card begins to thermal throttle and set a cap in your GPU software - it stops serious (but temporary) frame drops in games. I think most 7 & 9 series cards throttle at 79 degrees - so set it to 77 / 78 to see if it helps!
Hope this info helps someone - it's all from personal experience, so I hope I'm not misinforming anyone
🙂
Sorry if I am! I'll try and respond with more information that's helped me increase my score when I get some time!
