You're seeking guidance on optimizing your PC setup. Your current build includes an Intel i5 10600K, a Coolermaster 212 Black Edition, and three front intake fans. You're experiencing high temperatures during multicore tasks and Doom Eternal, often reaching 100°C. You're considering adding a parallel 120mm exhaust fan and two 140mm fans at the top. It's wise to verify if these fans alone won't resolve the issue, as other factors like airflow direction or case design might play a role. Budget constraints mean you want to ensure you're addressing the root cause before investing further.

1. Did you apply thermal paste?
2. Is it correctly secured?
3. Was the sticker on the cooler cold plate taken off?
4. Have you connected the fans to spin?

If the temperature changes extremely quickly, there may be an issue with how your cooler is mounted. Refer to what @Acid Panda discussed earlier. If needed, remove it and reinstall it securely.

Currently, I'm using my 212 black on my overclocked i7, and temperatures are fine. You might need to adjust the mount.

Even without an exhaust, the temperature shouldn't rise too much. I have a comparable configuration—just a lower tier i5 and one exhaust—reaching 50 under load. Consider the advice given above.

I applied thermal paste correctly, everything seems set, there was a sticker on it, I took it off, and the cooler fan is working properly.

Another person got the same cooler, but some plastic remained after applying the paste. I’m not sure this is the main problem since it seems like a one-time issue. Maybe checking how the paste is spread or confirming the mounting is correct would help. Even though my friend’s CPU failed and they swapped it out, that doesn’t seem relevant here.

I've reattached the cooler and ran cinabench again. The maximum CPU temperature is now 85°C. It was previously reaching 100°C, so it seems the problem was related to the mounting. I'm planning to add exhaust fans to maximize cooling, especially since this build was expensive with a high-end CPU and GPU. My scores on cinabench were 7515—unsure if that's satisfactory, but I hope these temperatures are safe for gaming. Thanks!
