Performance issues unexpectedly arise.
I recently tried Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and achieved 120 fps with all options at their highest, including Ray Tracing at Ultra and DLSS at Quality. Now I'm seeing around 20-30 fps, and adjusting settings doesn't help. After cleaning my GPU drivers and reinstalling them, the issue returned after a short while. Previously, I had 170 fps+ on Doom Eternal with all settings enabled after installation, but then it dropped to 13 fps with a 40 ms delay the next day.
1. Is the system running background updates or is a task heavily using the hard disk or SSD? Could the operating system itself be the cause?
2. Have you reviewed thermal settings? Is there any overheating detected?
3. What does the hardware usage appear to be during gameplay?
4. Are you certain you weren’t imagining it?
All operations stay under 70°C GPU usage, CPU at 37%, and no background downloads are occurring.
Full system specs are going to be needed to be sure here. If you could please share them in the OP or in a reply? Most likely culprit is the temperatures of your CPU and GPU. Is this a fresh new build or one that has functioned just fine for an extended period of time before having the issue?
Operations remain stable after driver reinstalls or occasionally during short periods like a few days, then they keep functioning normally. This setup is quite an older model, built around about a year ago with full specifications including an RTX 3070 Ti gaming trio, 7,580 MHz graphics, 32 GB of 3600 MHz RAM, Corsair 240mm AIO Platinum SE, an 850-watt EVGA G+ Gold rated PSU, a B550M Steel Legend motherboard, and a 970 Evo Plus drive.
