Hello! It sounds like your game runs much slower than expected, even at a steady 165fps. Your setup includes a Samsung 165Hz monitor and an Intel Core i7-12700. There might be issues with your graphics card or driver settings affecting performance. Upgrading to a 240Hz monitor could help improve responsiveness.

What game are we talking about? Are you certain it's operating at 165 frames per second, or is the display just showing 165 Hz? I think upgrading to a quicker monitor probably won't fix the issue, especially since the 1660S might still maintain a steady 240 fps.

The game is Fortnite, it maintains a steady 165fps and might reach smooth 240fps in the game.

You might try tools such as MSI Afterburner for this. It’s possible Fortnite doesn’t have a built-in fix. @Vishera’s point checks out—if the game still feels sluggish even at steady 165 fps, it could be due to frame timing issues or spikes. Upgrading to a higher refresh monitor is unlikely to help. You could check if lag persists with an unlimited frame rate or by capping it to around 120 fps.

Your frame rate is limited to 165fps and there are no lag spikes. I'm using MSI Afterburner, but I'm unsure how to locate the GPU timing information.

I checked the frame rate and confirmed the timing. This visual should give you a clear understanding.

Your frame rate is approximately 6.4 milliseconds per frame, which is quite fast for smooth performance.
