It seems I've fixed the problem. Restarting my settings should bring it down to about 47*C, and I'm planning to use a 3.8GHz clock to generate more power.

I’ll review this again later. I think I might have encountered the problem while installing my MoBo yesterday. While plugging in components, something moved on the VRM heatsink (which I was using as a handle). Under load, the heatsink felt loose and shifted back and forth. When I get home today, I’ll check the push pins to make sure they’re fully seated.

While plugging in components, something moved on the VRM heatsink (which I was using as a handle). Under load, the heatsink felt loose and shifted back and forth. When I get home today, I’ll check the push pins to make sure they’re fully seated.

In situations where someone still had interest or faced the same problem, I managed to fix it. While setting up my M5A78L-M PLUS, I used the VRM heat-sink as a support, which made it shift and felt unstable. During a 3.8GHz overclock, temperatures rose to 54°C and caused throttling despite the CPU running at 30*c. To investigate, I opened the PC and took off the GPU for better access. The heat-sink wobbled back and forth. I tried removing it entirely, noticing tiny push pins on the back. Since I didn’t take off the motherboard, I could still see the issue: the heat-sink was loose and the thermal paste was hardened. I cleaned the old paste with 99% isopropyl alcohol and reapplied a thin layer of Arctic MX-4 2019 paste. Once the heat-sink was back in place, everything settled properly. Now it runs smoothly at 4.0GHz without issues. I plan to test it at 4.2GHz soon. Here’s a photo of the heat-sink under it. If anyone can verify this is the VRM issue, that would be great. Also, just a note—my 12V reading in HWInfo shows 10.4V, though BIOS says it's okay.
