I'm 17 years old and have tried every operating system since XP. From my own experience, I know that while 7 was user-friendly and fun to use, it had some drawbacks. Personally, I prefer the native 10 Design USB 3.0 version, combining the strengths of 7 with the reliability of newer releases like 8/8.1.

Sure, in a work setting there aren't many options. If you could test a W10 Industry version, that might be a good start. It came from the W9 update and was built around W7/8 and 8.1 components, plus the 10 special features fully unlocked.

After 20 minutes of waiting for someone to pick up. I'm just going to clone the drive. It's a 500GB SSD and should be large enough to do a straight clone.

Do you have the Dell disks along with your setup? You need at least two disks. The Windows 7 ISO and the driver disk are required. Use them. Windows 7 will activate itself automatically.

I might inquire from him. However, I'm skeptical. It looks like he'd have shared something during our discussion.

You didn't do it for a reason. What happened?

Locate the model number on the PC. Visit Dell's website and check for a label containing all details. If that fails, reach out to their support team. Note that cloning might not succeed if the old drive has issues.

Reinstalling the OS is usually the best option. It minimizes risks and ensures the most efficient system. We’re a college student and I’m working full-time on co-op while he’s on campus. This weekend I’ll drive over and clone it. He doesn’t have a USB to SATA adapter, which could be an issue. I’ll let him know about it. At this stage, we’re likely going to choose a clone.

Windows 7 remains fairly solid until the extended support expires on January 14, 2020.
