You'll need to be careful and use a plastic tool to avoid harming the GPU. Watch out for slipping and accidentally dislodging parts from the motherboard. Don’t stress about breaking the latch—it’s not necessary if you won’t move the PC often.

Remove the screw securing the card on the PCI bracket at the back of the case. Hold the card firmly with both hands and lift it up gently after placing the PC side down. The card should separate without harming it, though the retention bracket may detach.

You might be able to handle it, though I’d treat it as a final option since there’s a small chance of harming the motherboard or card. It’s unlikely, but I’ve done it before by mistake—why not wait until no other choices remain?

I experienced a similar situation. There are various types of latches, but I believe the spring-loaded lever latch remains the top choice. I haven’t had any trouble with it before.

The latch sits above the GPU, not beneath it. These parts need almost no effort.
