PC Xbox controller issue, poor Bluetooth link, ASUS software problems
Xbox controller for PC with wireless adapter is experiencing connectivity issues. When using a headset, it produces a crackling sound. The controller has disconnected several times during playback. I've tried updating the firmware, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, downloading Bluetooth and chipset drivers from ASUS, but USB and chipset installs don't work. The motherboard is ASUS B760 Plus with Wi-Fi D4. Please help if you have time.
It came with the wireless adapter included in the package along with the Xbox controller and USB stick. Is it using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth?
I believed it was Bluetooth, most devices connect via 2.4GHz while the PC uses 5GHz. To reduce interference, consider adjusting settings or checking distances between devices. The intermittent connection and crackling sound may indicate a signal issue, possibly due to proximity or network congestion.
Bluetooth works at 2.4GHz all the time. Ugh, I really dislike that.
It’s actually quite clever. Bluetooth was built to operate in short bursts, which matches the reality of shared frequencies. If you’re looking for blame, check your lawmakers—they’re stuck with just a few license-free channels, and every maker seems to be filling them. But there are so many unnecessary radio stations out there, that’s a plus.
My router from Spectrum broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels under one name, which causes issues. My PS5 automatically switches to the 2.4GHz band, making it impossible to connect to the 5GHz network. This results in Bluetooth headphones not working properly during downloads, causing frustrating interruptions every few seconds. The same happens with my Switch Pro Controller—unless I connect it directly via cable to the Switch. Neither device functions well when downloading on the 2.4GHz band.
