I hope there are more games that use split-screen. They made Don't Starve Together, which supports multiplayer with split-screen on consoles and PCs. Not great.

It's tough for me to regard PC gamers as inferior when even our weaker ports often outperform console versions. Arkham Knight stands out as one of the rare cases where this isn’t true, though its performance hiccups and lag make it less appealing. Generally, PC gaming has improved significantly compared to past years, especially since major platforms began releasing similar titles. I don’t see a problem with split-screen or local co-op options becoming more common, but I believe developers overlook PC’s potential because they don’t anticipate it being a priority for many gamers. I suspect they’re right about that. They probably aren’t excluding PC from their lineup because they disrespect the platform, but rather because they don’t think it’s relevant or something PC players would want.

Most players, likely over 95%, probably don’t care about splitscreen or co-op options. The developers understand this, but for those who play on PC, it’s clear there are few choices available. Implementing a splitscreen feature shouldn’t require many hours if consoles already offer it. I think the issue lies with developers being too lazy to add something that only a small audience would use, even if it would be appreciated by some.

GTA V stands out as one of the most smoothly optimized titles I've encountered. It maintains around 70 fps on my GTX 970 at high settings, even when I disable two cores on my Xeon E3-1231v3 to mimic an i3 from 2013-14. It continues to impress visually two years after its PC launch. If every major AAA title matched GTA V's quality, upgrading my GPU wouldn't be necessary for another couple of years. While GTA IV had issues on PC, GTA V sets the benchmark.

Certainly, some PC ports have issues, but what defines a problematic port? I've noticed games that work well yet get labeled as "bad ports" because they lack advanced graphics features and struggle with performance—like low frame rates or frame rate locking. While GTAV is a solid choice, Metal Gear Solid V or DOOM set the benchmark for multi-platform compatibility. Regarding split-screen functionality, it hasn't been common on PCs since a while; I only see it when both players are on screen together. Additionally, using multiple controllers can be tricky since systems often treat each keyboard and mouse differently. Overall, this niche market is limited; most gamers own their PCs rather than consoles or TVs. Consoles have their own challenges that PC players appreciate. Many games require mods that aren't supported on consoles, and online multiplayer is usually free. You can still play these titles years later on a new machine with better hardware. Ultimately, big studios prioritize profit, so they focus on what generates the most revenue.
