Are you sure your Internet is linked to your PC via a cable or is it wireless? Does your location inside the house or the time of day seem to influence the connection speed? Observe if your mother (and/or others) are using their computers online simultaneously when you experience slower performance. Some providers limit bandwidth during peak usage periods.
A common fix for slow speeds is to restart your router and turn off your computer, then try again. To check if Wi-Fi is the problem, connect your device directly to the router using an Ethernet cable.
You can track your Wi-Fi performance with Task Manager. Click right-click on an empty area of the taskbar and select Task Manager. In the left panel, pick Performance and Wi-Fi.
