Hello. I was playing a game on my PC and noticed the temperatures were unusually high, around 74°C. Normally this wouldn’t occur because I keep the CPU fans running at a very high speed. After closing the game, I looked into the cause, hoping to see a slight drop in temperature to about 65°C while idling. I restarted the computer to check if an accidentally opened program was responsible, but instead I saw my motherboard’s logo and the spinning circle on the screen, yet Windows never appeared in the start menu. I managed to reach the BIOS without issues and all hardware was recognized, but I couldn’t get past the logo during the boot process.

I attempted to boot Windows using a USB drive with the Media Creation Tool, but it failed, showing a dark blue screen. I’m currently formatting the same USB stick with Rufus and using a Windows 11 ISO as the boot option, though I’m unsure if this will work.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated!

It worked! I managed to clean install Windows 11. I removed every drive except the SSD I wanted to use and turned off all peripherals before starting, which might have been the cause. Thanks to everyone who responded to this thread—your help really made a difference. I’ll definitely consider upgrading my PSU this holiday season. Thank you!

Reset CMOS, disconnect one stick of RAM, and attempt to boot from USB.
If that fails, consider updating the BIOS (though it may not help much). If booting still doesn't work, you probably have a faulty CPU or motherboard, with the motherboard being more likely.

I changed the boot mode from UEFI to CSM in the BIOS and tried using the SSD with Windows installed. The screen with the spinning circle and MAG logo vanished, but now I’m seeing only a black screen with just my mouse cursor. I’m really puzzled about what happened and don’t want to think it’s a hardware issue because I can access the BIOS. How could a system restart lead to this situation?

When Windows becomes damaged, it may perform unusual actions. It's usually safest to start with a fresh installation, especially if you have crucial files. At least the storage device should remain usable.

Despite trying to use the USB drive that came with Windows, the dark blue screen persists and I can only move my cursor. This same blue screen appears during a clean OS installation, yet the installation window never shows up, leaving just the dark blue background.

Examine obtaining a good power supply unit for that setup.

I can confirm the PSU isn't an issue. I've been using this system for roughly a year, and this hasn't occurred before.

Powering up doesn't usually mean a power supply is bad. Electrolytic components lose moisture. Thousands of cycles put a lot of stress on supplies. I always have a backup ready just in case.

Keep in mind that your present PSU is a basic model, which isn't ideal for powering a gaming PC.
