PC fans running and black screen ?
Hey thanks for reading this thread! I spent two years turning my PC off every single night. When I finally got home, trying to turn it on made three loud beeps pop out. I went online and found some threads saying the problem might be the GPU or the RAM, so I did some cleaning. It stopped working completely now. All I see is fans spinning fast with nothing showing up on my screen.
I already tried: wiping down the RAM with an eraser and cleaning the slots in the motherboard. I did the same thing for the graphics card. I took out one stick of RAM at a time. I even put the GPU into a different slot labeled "PCI Express." I tried it without any RAM sticks attached. I took the CMOS battery out and let it sit for seven minutes. I checked all my cables and made sure they were plugged back in properly.
I don't have much money, so if this is something really broken, I'm pretty sorry.
My build details are:
- Motherboard: Asus Z77
- CPU: Intel i7-3770k with liquid metal cooling
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon 570 with 8GB of RAM
- Memory: 16GB total (four sticks, each with 4GB)
- Power supply: Corsair VS550
- Storage: 500GB Samsung Evo SSD plus two other hard drives (1TB and 2TB)
- Case: Corsair 5000D
Thanks again for your time! Have a nice day 😀
It's a 13 year old system, so something might break. Just take out the graphics card. Put one stick of RAM in the first slot, try turning it on. Next, take out the CPU, clean off the dust from the heatsink and reattach it properly. Then use fresh thermal paste and put back on the cooler.
Now it is time to figure out if you should pay for an old computer system. The first thing I would fix is the power supply unit. Then, the next one is the motherboard. It's always possible that liquid metal leaked onto the CPU and broke something.
Change the battery in your computer. It might be the reason for these issues, but it probably has reached its limit anyway.
It was the CMOS battery! I love my friend who told me to try it so much.
Same thing here, man. I really hope you get all the good stuff in your day.
