PC fails to turn on during installation of a PCIe SATA adapter
Hey there, I'm trying to add more drives to my NAS setup—actually combining two units into one. But the motherboard only has four SATA ports. I bought a PCIe SATA card from Amazon, but when I try to install it, the board won't power up and the lights flicker briefly before shutting off. I thought maybe the controller was faulty, but it works fine on other boards. I also tried resetting the CMOS, but nothing changes. Here are the links I checked: one that looks good, another that works, and a third that’s older but functional. I’m still trying to figure this out.
additional info: using a different PCIe card (ethernet) in the PCIe slot also functions well.
I made the updates to the BIOS versions from 1.4 to 1.7 and then to 1.8, but nothing changed. Now I have an updated BIOS, which seems to be causing some issues. The system starts with a very quiet click from the PSU when fans spin, which might be a problem for the motherboard.
