Do you have a guide for the fans? Perhaps they don’t require Molex or the 4-pin connector.

It seems like you came close to a successful setup. Keep the extra port disconnected and loose, with cables hidden away. If you add another fan or a fan hub/LED strip using Molex (the 4-pin power is called Molex), connect it there. Try again—insert the third plug into the rear of the PSU, fit the fan connector, and leave the other plug unplugged.
