Hello! Your computer experiences crashes occasionally. The operating system is Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, version 10.0.19044, build 19044. Error log shows a fatal hardware error from the processor core. Reported by component: Processor Core. Source: Machine Check Exception. Error type: Cache Hierarchy. Processor APIC ID: 2. Details: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX AMD R5 3600, SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 5700XT, NITRO 8GB, DDR4 3200MHz Vengeance LPX, Red Samsung 1TB SSD, 860GB.
What I attempted to fix: Reinstalled Windows, updated AMD chipset driver, changed Windows power settings, adjusted BIOS to the latest version. The crash became less frequent. After switching to AMD preset power scheme in Windows, it only crashed when using Google Chrome. Changed to Mozilla Firefox and it stopped crashing after about 1.5 days. It's still a bit frustrating.
You could attempt a manual test more quickly. Memtest86 might be faster if your RAM is the issue.
XMP on resolved the problem. Update: experienced crash again after three days.
Hey there, I tried to help with your problem. You mentioned using a Ryzen 5 3600 and faced issues mainly due to low voltage conditions. After some troubleshooting, it turned out the CPU was sensitive to voltage levels. It couldn't maintain stable operation when power draw dropped, especially during light tasks like web browsing. By slightly lowering the maximum clock speed, you avoided crashes, but when you increased it again, the issue returned. You noted that undervolting around 0.010V caused immediate BIOS crashes. I think adjusting the max clock speed or tweaking the voltage might work better. Since your motherboard isn’t optimized for this, testing with a higher voltage could be an option. Let me know if you need more details!
Greetings!
