PC crashes after a barely OC
PC crashes after a barely OC
I have an i5 6600k and I was attempting to overclock it, but the PC keeps crashing after playing for a couple of games. It was around 4.00 Ghz with a voltage of 1.250, and once I play for an hour it freezes. I’m not sure what’s happening here...
Can you provide your PC specifications? It might be related to power supply strength. How many hard drives are connected? Which graphics card are you using? What temperature does the PC reach while gaming? Could overheating be causing crashes? Are you using any cooler? I tried reseating it and applying new thermal paste. Luckily, I had a Nvidia replay before the crash—temperature was 65°C with 99% usage. It seems high CPU temps can cause issues. I plan to increase fan speed at 50% usage to see how it affects performance.
Power supply capacity may be insufficient.
Number of hard drives?
Current graphics card in use?
Operating temperature during gaming sessions?
Possible overheating issues due to heat.
Utilizing a cooler?
Please replace the cooler and apply fresh thermal paste.

Could you please share your PC specifications? It might be related to power delivery issues. How many hard drives are connected? Which graphics card are you using? What temperature is the system operating at while gaming? Could overheating be causing the crashes? Are you using any cooling solution? I tried reseating the cooler and applying fresh thermal paste. Luckily, I had a replay from Nvidia before the crash occurred. The temperatures were around 65°C with 99% usage. It seems that when the CPU hits that high temperature it starts to malfunction and then shuts down. I managed to increase the fan speed automatically when the CPU reached 50%. I'll monitor the situation closely.
Without OC your PC operates smoothly without any freezing or crashes. Which kind of games cause these issues? I noticed you mentioned problems when running multiple games together—was it just one specific game that was crashing? Have you checked if the cooler is properly seated?
Can you provide your PC specifications? It might be related to power; your power supply could be insufficient. How many hard drives do you have? Which graphics card are you using? What temperature is your PC at while gaming? Could the heat be causing crashes? Are you using a cooler? You should reset the cooler and apply new thermal paste. I had a Nvidia replay before the crash, showing a temperature of 65°C with 99% usage. It seems the CPU overheats and causes issues. I tried increasing the fan speed at 50°C and will let you know if it helps.

I recently got a replay from Nvidia before the crash occurred. The temperatures were around 65°C and usage reached 99%. I think this high heat affects performance and leads to failure. I adjusted the fan speed to 50% when the CPU hits 50% load and will monitor the results.
Currently, at 65 degrees with 99% usage it feels quite manageable, though I’m trying to increase the fan speed further. If the usage jumps to 100% even without overclocking, please let me know what you’re experiencing.
Can you provide your PC specifications? It might be related to power delivery. How many hard drives are connected? Which graphics card are you using? What temperature is the system operating at while gaming? Could overheating be causing the crashes? Are you using any cooling solution? You should replace the cooler and apply fresh thermal paste. I had a Nvidia capture before the crash, showing a temperature of 65°C with 99% usage. It seems the CPU starts to fail when it reaches that level. I adjusted the fan speed to 50% when the CPU hit 50% and will let you know if it helps. Regarding your new issue, usage spikes to 100% even without overclocking. Check your task manager processes—look at the CPU section for programs using the most resources. Just open Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, click CPU, and see which program has the highest usage.
Can you provide your PC specifications? It might be related to power delivery. How many hard drives are connected? Which graphics card are you using? What temperature does the system maintain while gaming? Could overheating be the cause of crashes? Are you using any cooling solution? Consider replacing the cooler and applying fresh thermal paste.
I had a Nvidia replay before the crash, showing a temperature of 65°C at 99% usage. This suggests the CPU might fail if it hits that level. I increased the fan speed at 50% usage and will monitor the results.
Currently, reaching 100% usage even without overclocking is problematic. Check Task Manager for processes consuming high CPU resources. Open Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, click CPU, and look for programs with high usage. They may be causing the spike.
