It seems you're considering an option and wondering about its effectiveness. Would you like to explore it further?

It relies on the freshness of your Android release and whether your device isn't among the oldest models. Otherwise, it performs exceptionally well.

SMS communication feels a bit awkward. File transfers often struggle with speed and reliability, sometimes even stopping unexpectedly. The clipboard sharing feature only supports one direction on my Pixel 3, but works both ways on my Pixel 2 using LineagOS. Overall, everything else seems to function properly. The KDE team plans to prioritize other operating systems such as Plasma Mobile, PureOS, and PostMarketOS. For KDE Connect, I’m uncertain about future improvements on Android. It isn’t available on iOS because of platform restrictions.

Shared notifications function well and the video player controls are responsive. The remote input via smartphone as a touchpad works fine, though Android notifications occasionally interrupt it for a short time (my old phone didn’t have this issue). I accept file transfers are inconsistent, but compared to MTP they’re much more reliable—laughing at the situation. I believe improvements were made in the latest release, so it should be significantly better now. > Shared clipboard, forgot about that—I use it daily because my main PC also acts as a TV. Managing audio, streaming, and browsing between services is seamless. > The KDE team is shifting focus toward more alternative operating systems, but these are open-source projects allowing community involvement. I reviewed their bug tracker and code repository; they have numerous open issues, yet over 7 developers are actively working on the codebase in the past two weeks. So there’s definitely ongoing development. Edited September 18, 2020 by lestofante added the project status update.

There isn't a direct equivalent of KDE Connect on Windows or macOS, but you can find similar tools like KDE Connect for Windows via third-party applications or desktop environments that offer similar functionality.

Windows Your Phone might only work well on newer Samsung Galaxy models, though that could change. It seems most features are limited to those devices, but you can still sync across platforms. All Apple devices should connect automatically by default.

Honestly its the best, I miss it evertime I switch to windows. There is a app on windows but it's super buggy, hope it gets better soon.

It's not exactly on-topic, but have you observed any delay in notifications appearing on your phone’s screen? I’ve noticed that often the desktop notification shows up first on my PC (Kubuntu), and then after a short while it arrives on my phone, lighting up the screen. It was strange at first, and I’m curious if this is related to using a Xiaomi device or if it happens across all phones.
