It made me consider what current gamers are actually using. Feel free to mention your setup if you'd like. Updated on January 16, 2025 by okkee – adjusted the timeframe from "<1 Year" to "<2 Years".

Ryzen 7700x paired with RTX 4080, bought at launch in late 2022. That’s about two years left. I plan to upgrade the BIOS and get a 9800X3D and a 5090 soon. Then I’ll move away from the 10800X3D and 6080/6090, focusing instead on AM6 and the newer Nvidia 7000 series. Right now I just play games.

Your computer runs an i7-4790 with an RTX 3060. It’s not meant for the latest games, but you’re already streaming content at 1440P or 4K on your TV. Cyberpunk works fine, and you’re interested in testing Baldur’s Gate 3 performance.

Under 2 years, over a year. The survey shows a missing space.

I played my first computer a Dell Inspiron 660 from 2012. It’s still functional today and runs well. Originally it had an i3 processor, which was later upgraded to an i5 with a 3rd generation chipset. It originally came with Windows 7, but now it’s running Windows 11. Unfortunately, it can’t play games anymore. I don’t have any big plans for it, but I hope things improve soon!

I also own one of those. It was the very first computer I ever used (i3 2100 with 6GB RAM). Now I just bought a 7800x3d, but I'm running a 7440hq on an old laptop.

That's great! I'm running a Lenovo St50 V2 as my gaming rig since my CyberPower PC's SSD is failing. I'm hoping to get a solid Samsung Evo 990 with heat shrink for a better upgrade. I've been improving the Lenovo setup for gaming.

My primary system features a 2019 i9-10900X purchased secondhand in 2023. The other machines I use have processors from 2010 to 2013. I also possess a 2007 Core2 Quad Q6600 (acquired secondhand in 2014) still running in my HTPC.

I recently installed a new system, moving from an 8700k to a 9800x3d. I'm now holding off on upgrading my CPU since nothing particularly impressed me at the time. Intel continued adding more mediocre cores, while AMD was just beginning to expand their CPU offerings.
