New setup featuring an i9-12900k purchased more than a year prior to assembly. Likely falls in the 3 to 5-year age range, though its recentness compared to an i7-8700k still stands—especially since that processor is now over seven years old. (Note: If today’s market were this, I’d probably go for a Ryzen instead.)
i7 920 and Hd 5870 with 12GB RAM are showing signs of wear. Linux GPU driver support is restrictive for recent games (no Vulkan). My old Windows 7 setup began random BSODs last fall. A 9800x3d/9070 combo seems like a good upgrade when I can afford it. Maybe I’m an exception in the data.
