i've noticed my friends discussing overwatch at school, so i bought it. then a friend asked if it could count as an esport. i'm not entirely sure, but i think it might be worth considering based on what warowl said in his video. right now i'm pretty strong in csgo and keep my game very competitive with friends, so my views might matter. in my opinion, it could be a possibility. for beginners, most overwatch servers run at about 60 ticks, which means they can handle around 98 top 91 mms at most. that's a bit low compared to pros who need at least 85-70 mms per second—definitely impressive. i'm currently around 91 mms, and it feels off sometimes. that’s something i’d change. most classes in the game are pretty balanced, though i can see each one has its own strengths. there aren’t many issues with the classes themselves. but what bothers me is the idea of playing for hours with friends—it feels more like a casual game to me, similar to cod mw2. it would probably have big prize pools but not many players. i don’t think blizzard is pushing it hard as a competitive title, but if you find an article, please share it. i’m not trying to make the discussion too long—just want to keep it focused. thanks!

Right now, the competition in Korea is intense, yet for NA it seems unlikely they'll make a significant impact. In my view, it’s not very engaging—there’s little that an individual can do to change the outcome, as it’s built that way. It feels like the Rocket League effect: enjoyable to play but terrible to watch.

Exactly, that's why I mentioned it would yield a competitive coding outcome.

It makes sense that it might begin in Korea. Many competitive titles such as LOL and Dota originated there, yet I worry it could evolve into something similar to Rocket League.

It’s probably heading toward the same fate as the Do-Rocket League. Still, it ranks second in popularity in Korea, just behind LoL.

It wouldn’t surprise me if it becomes an esports title, though I prefer watching CS:GO instead.

That's accurate. Arcade shooters such as Overwatch and COD might not be ideal for competitive play.
