Several competitions have taken place, and many organizations such as Cloud9 reportedly include Overwatch talent. Watching the events online was challenging for me; the constant player changes and fast-paced action made it hard to keep up. Kills often blend together, and without the clear hero icons marking their status, it’s difficult to follow. I’m new to competitive first-person shooters, so I struggled with understanding the flow. Despite that, Overwatch performs well in attracting viewers on Twitch, which suggests they’re committed to developing it as a serious sport.
Probably not. It won't be easy to spot it as a mainstream esport, but I really question it will ever break out beyond the hardcore crowd. The style of games like Overwatch feels more suited to solo players than competitive arenas. You might think it's all about teamwork, but the truth is it leans heavily on individual talent. Even games with strong multiplayer like Dota 2 or CS:GO rely a lot on coordinated play. TF2 also fits that mold. Rainbow Six Siege is another example where one mistake can cost you the match. Overwatch offers more flexibility, making it less dependent on perfect team synergy.
