Overclocking Ryzen 3600x and b450 msi tomahawk
Overclocking Ryzen 3600x and b450 msi tomahawk
I want to check how others have overclocked their Ryzen 5 3600x beyond what I've done so far. My current settings are: CPU core voltage at 1.4375 and frequency at 4250 MHZ. The RAM is set to an XMP profile of 3600MHz with values 17-19-19-39. I'm only making minor adjustments.
It should be possible to downclock that one and possibly increase the other, proceeding through the process independently until you receive a final suggestion with a cb20 score.
You can apply this by adjusting or creating a profile.
Alternatively, you may adjust the frequency and Mv values to raise them.
In his guide it mentioned when changing the Mv by 25 = 50 mhz, so
Freq 1250 to 1300
Mv. 1275 to 1300.
That is just a basic example. (don’t rely on those numbers unless they closely match what it says).
You’ll need to experiment with these settings.
Also consider running Asus RealBench and Cinnabench separately to evaluate the system.
My device failed even at its recommended settings, so I returned to my original configuration.
These users are experiencing around 1.327V for a 4.2 all-core rating. I believe it's best not to push beyond 1.40V to avoid damaging the CPU. I use my 3900X at 4.4GHz with 1.40V, but only occasionally for testing. For regular tasks I run PBO or a 4.2/4.3 overclock setting. Your RAM has a high CAS rate. Are you using Cinebench 20 to check performance? These results should be achievable.
Hi
On my 3600x with an Asus rog strix x470 f gaming, I’ve tested Pbo, Ctr, and all core OC settings.
I’m pretty close to what I saw in Ctr.
My BIOS settings are:
Ppt 395
Tdc 290
Edc 290
LLC level 3 on Ctr (in the guide I think MSI MOSOs are LLC 4)
Right now I’m adjusting the OC to get my voltage closer to Ctr.
I’m getting around 4.30ghz at 1.28125v.
Socket voltage is 1.10v, temps are running Cb r20 high in the 50s and lows in the 60s.
Cbr20 has a MC score of 3924.
Your specs are listed in my signature.
Your setup will depend on your cooling, but try to lower the voltage if possible.
If not, stick with Ppt Tdc Edc settings and use LLC with Pbo—let the processor handle itself.
My son’s 3600 on an MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC is using Pbo with Ppt 400 Tdc 200, Edc 200, and LLC L3, regularly pushing up to at least 4.25-4.275g and reaching 4.30g on one core.
Good luck!!!!!!!!
you're suggesting I ease back on the core voltage overclock, and your Cinebench score is 3742
The thread displays scores: I'm at 4.2 at 1.37v manual overclock with a score of 3813. I suggest testing lower voltage settings, ideally not exceeding 1.40V, to avoid overheating and throttling. Try 1.37 at 4.2 and check the CB20 score.
With CTR it boosts my CCX1 cores to 4350Mhz and CCX2 cores to 4325Mhz at 1.25v while running Cinebench R20. The score was 3900 at 59-60 degrees. It's a solid overclock for someone who prefers not to tweak BIOS settings too much—perfect for the lazy overclocking enthusiast. 😉
