Overclocking Ryzen 3600x and b450 msi tomahawk
I favor using bios and test with CB20. I believe Prime is too harsh.
After testing the Ctr on my system, it completed the procedures without issues, but running programs caused it to freeze or crash. By checking the settings in Ryzen Master and Hwinfo64, I adjusted them closely to those in BIOS, which worked without crashes. There seems to be a limit to how high the GHz can go before performance gains aren't noticeable. My previous setup was 4.350ghz at 1.31625v with a CBR20 MC score of 3944-3955 and a voltage range of 502-505. The current setup is 4.300ghz at 1.28125v, CBR20 MC 3928 and a voltage of 500. The additional 0.50ghz and the voltage difference aren't providing enough benefit.
I attempted to use Ctr but clicking start led directly to the cinebench download page, which is where I already had the software installed.
It should be possible to downclock that one and possibly increase the other, proceeding through the process independently until you receive a final suggestion with a cb20 score.
You can apply this by adjusting or creating a profile.
Alternatively, modify the frequency and Mv values to raise them.
In his guide it mentioned changing the Mv by 25 equals 50 mhz.
So
Freq 1250 to 1300
Mv. 1275 to 1300.
That is just a basic example. (so refrain from using those numbers unless they are very close to what it advises).
You’ll need to experiment with these settings.
Also consider running Asus RealBench and Cinnabench separately to evaluate the system.
My device failed on those even when following its recommended settings, so I returned to my original configuration.
Also worth noting is that it remains in the beta stage, 1usmus. The developer has taken a break from it for a while. In version 1.1 beta 7, I've observed frequencies loading higher than the cores can handle, leading to more BSODs compared to previous versions. As mentioned, I've been using it mainly as a lazy overclocker and haven't explored it much yet.
Consider attempting to obtain an OC without CTR. As mentioned earlier, OCs from CTR do not work during testing. Begin with the GHz and voltage values provided in CTR, then reduce the OC by 0.1GHz. Finally, verify the setup on CB20.
