I bought a new beQuiet case to set up a system for my son, but it’s still not working. I’m on my third motherboard and haven’t managed to get it to turn on. All three ASUS B550E~F Gaming WIFI boards have failed—first one just sits there, second works but doesn’t communicate with the GPU, and the third one won’t power up at all. The third board seems to be alive thanks to a small green LED near the power cord that flashes every second. My specs are: ASUS ROG STRIX B550E-F GAMING WIFI CPU; AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D RAM; Corsair AM4 RAM. I don’t know which storage drive is used—Seagate 2TB NVME GPU, ASUS ROG STRIX (unclear model), and I’ve tested everything locally. I recall hearing about other users having issues with ASUS B550 boards recently. If this isn’t a problem with Asus, what alternatives should I explore? Any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks for your time—I’m typing this on my five-year-old iPad Pro. Good luck!
Three boards in a row indicate a problem beyond just the boards themselves. I’m struggling to accept that you’re having this issue. Have you confirmed that only the necessary standoffs are installed and placed correctly? It seems likely you’re shorting the board in the case. A simple test would be to assemble the system inside the case and see if it functions. Also, what do you mean the board isn’t communicating with the GPU? Is the BIOS current enough to support the x3d CPU?
Using the second board would activate it but the GPU would remain inactive. There’s nothing to do at all. It’s unclear if the BIOS has been updated since the system isn’t responding. I’ll check later tomorrow after 1:05 AM. Thanks for your assistance and feedback. I’ll follow your guidance and update you once I have more information. Appreciate it!
Yeah I agree Maybe there's some short with the board touching the case or such ? Or some power issue with bad cables
It's possible the issue lies with the cables themselves. It's unclear exactly how they're being connected, but forcing them in the wrong orientation can cause problems. This often leads to failure or overheating, resulting in a non-functional device or a burning smell.
Check the power supply and initial connections. Verify if the CPU and RAM function on a different setup.
I own the identical motherboard, haven’t faced comparable issues, would love to learn your approach.
Yea, me too. Just got out of bed so will start disassembly in about 30 minutes after I wake up and take a shower and other associated things. Thanks for your interest. Take care and good luck.
