Display: Acer Nitro VG271U M3bmiipx 27" WQHD (2560 x 1440) 180hz
Mobo: TBD
cpu: intel i5-12400f
gpu: rx 6800
case: Thermaltake Versa N21 Black Edition Translucent Window Panel SPCC ATX Mid Tower
Storage: Kingston 1tb nv2 pcie 4.0 nvme m.2 ssd
psu: TBD
memory: sp x2 8gb ddr4 3200
Building a fresh PC for 2k gaming (hopefully)... presently operating a 720p toaster machine
Searching for affordable yet reliable components. Would this setup be worth the investment? Any suggestions on improvements? I’m aiming for around 130$ for the i5-12400f (currently have a first-gen i7).
What would you recommend regarding the motherboard, CPU, GPU, or power supply?
I’ve already ordered the monitor and RAM. The case and SSD are from a friend. Still trying to decide on the exact parts—having a solid plan but not fully sure.

Check the link in your profile for the advice, and send me everything you need. To be honest, 16gb of RAM is quite limited for a current gaming setup. Right now, most people prefer 32gb.

I’d consider giving it a try to secure a decent budget B660 board. Keep in mind, if the board doesn’t have a VRM heatsink or has one that’s extremely small, it’s best to skip it. Even then, check reviews for boards that seem promising but might not be worth the price.
