Asus produced some top-notch boards, though they can become quite costly. You can still find great value for more than $100 on a quality board. Their Deluxe line is highly recommended for retro systems.

You already have solid experience with soldering. The caps tend to blow up first, and they’re fairly simple and affordable to swap out. Just use a high-wattage iron to avoid overheating nearby parts while the solder melts. If you’re in the UK, I can send you a functional K4 setup.

I'm not familiar with any specific boards. Could you provide more details about what you're referring to?

Start by attempting to fix the issue yourself, but if you're not confident or lack the skills, consider using P4P800 and P4C800 boards.
