That sounds like the best that you're going to get until you get that new machine. 40 fps is certainly not bad and is certainly playable

After adjusting everything, I kept the settings medium except for viewing distance. At 900p it consistently ran at 40 fps, but over 60 fps inside the house when using FPS. I’ll keep this configuration until I acquire a new CPU (possibly Intel or Ryzen).
