Hello everyone, I've been considering upgrading my CPU. I own an i9 10850K on an ASUS Z490-P and want to switch to DDR5. Should I go ahead now or hold off? I'm leaning toward either a Ryzen 7 7700/7700X or an i5 13600K. Any advice would be appreciated.

Tell me about your graphics card and the tasks you're running—like gaming, watching videos, or editing. Does upgrading feel essential for your current needs?

I own an RX 6800 XT and mostly play games at home. Upgrading it isn’t essential, especially since I can sell my CPU, motherboard, and RAM for about the same amount as buying a Ryzen 7700 X kit in my country.

What level of detail are you checking? (I'm currently evaluating performance issues using online resources.)

Ideally, I would conduct genuine experiments in real situations, but it's simpler to rely on online resources instead.

I often watch YouTube clips where creators evaluate game hardware.

We strongly dislike these calculators. They frequently give incorrect results.

I switched from a heavily overclocked [email protected] with all cores to a Ryzen 7700x and noticed a noticeable boost in gaming performance. The lows improved significantly—1% and 0.1% saw major gains. The 9900k performs similarly to a 10850k, both using the same 14nm process.
