OCing 860k help needed
OCing 860k help needed
Yeah, maybe I can get that 6700k for a 1440x900 gaming rig. Any motherboards you suggest for overclocking would be helpful since I’m not really familiar with the MoBo stuff. Some things don’t cost more than 70-90 $. There aren’t any good options for overclocking at around $90. You’re probably thinking about $120. What’s your maximum budget for all the components you need? I can build something that works much better than what we’re doing now.
I switched to the i5-6600k because i was going over budget. HOWEVER, if your not doing any video editing, stream, or extremely heavy multitasking, a overclocked 6600K is still lightning fast. All the 6700K is is a core i5 with hyperthreading and some extra cache, that's it.
The motherboard is rock solid, excellent for overclocking.
I added an SSD because trust me you'll want it.
Also, I didn't add a computer case since I didn't see one in your other parts list. Did you need one? What do you like if so?

Can we replace the Vengeance with a 2x8? I’m okay paying about 100 more, as long as it works. I’m unlikely to stream, definitely not. Still, I want the ability to record videos, and I think it would help. For the SSD, I don’t really need it—I know they’re much faster, but I’m fine with slower load times as long as the game runs smoothly at 50-60 FPS on high graphics like The Witcher 3 and similar titles with 1440x900 resolution.
There are new plans available, featuring an i7 6700k along with a case that comes around ~400$. Here are the available models:
