Occasional system failures and error logs
I own a setup with these details: Ryzen 7 2700X, RX6700XT, 16GB RAM DDR4, 3200MHz X470 M.UI motherboard (still unsure if they matter). Recently, my system keeps crashing when idle or during simple tasks like a Discord call, but not during games or heavy apps. The monitors briefly freeze and then restore, and I’ve received crash reports. It’s becoming more frequent. I’ve checked the GPU and drivers are current. Anyone have ideas on what could be causing this?
Error reports indicate issues, and chipset drivers are confirmed as up to date.
OS? Windows 11, 10 or a Linux variant? Hackintosh? Consider reinstalling the OS and updating BIOS, etc. Try disconnecting the monitor cables and connecting them to different ports on the GPU, ensuring monitors are connected to the GPU not the motherboard, reinstall drivers if needed, and if that fails, visit your nearest computer repair shop (MicroCenter is ideal if you're in the US and nearby).
Linus shared a video comparing microcenter repair with a local shop. The PC began with an unplugged cable exposed, and MicroCenter staff applied new thermal paste without connecting the fan control cable.
