I’ll keep reviewing the bios update. I’m not planning to act yet—just compare the versions and see what each offers. I prefer options with memory and system stability features. I don’t think a bios update would worsen things right now. It seems like your temperatures are stable, so core boosts might reach up to 4.1ghz or 4.2ghz.
You're unsure about how to verify the results, but you noticed the performance boost to up to 3.9GHz during Cinebench tests. It seems unclear whether the improvement covers all cores. Recent BIOS updates on the ASUS website suggest improvements since the July release of this motherboard.
When you run cinebench, it displays all cores. If using Cpu-z, adjust the clock on the box showing frequency to reflect all cores. The motherboard section on Cpu-z will reveal the BIOS revision installed. To update BIOS, first navigate to bios and reset all settings. Power off the system and clear the CMOS. Install the new BIOS via the BIOS menu. After restarting in BIOS, follow F1 to configure defaults again and then reboot. Begin testing with default configurations first to establish a baseline. Make adjustments only when necessary, then benchmark and compare results.
A decent frequency rating here. If you don't plan to refresh the bios, consider boosting the PBO overclock to increase the overall core speed.
I handled my problem in a different way. The stutter in the BFV version worried me, so I swapped it for a 9900k. The shop accepted it as long as it arrived within two weeks after purchase and came fully equipped, in new condition and working properly. I went ahead with the purchase. I don’t feel guilty because I’ve built three PCs at that store and made a lot of money over the past ten years. I spent an extra 200 but I won’t upgrade the CPU again for another five to six years. It’s a big jump for a 1070i but I expect to upgrade around six months from now when Nvidia releases their newest model.
