Observe the main display for a brief pause.
Hey everyone, it looks like I'm facing some issues with my Zen 4 build. The main screen tends to freeze for a brief moment before returning. There are no Windows alerts indicating a disconnection, but it occurs occasionally—usually when using Firefox or during gaming sessions. I've tried swapping the monitor with another one, but the problem persists. It seems the issue might be related to the Elgato HD60 Pro being placed in the middle PCI slot instead of the bottom one, which is likely my most recent configuration change. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated to help resolve this quickly. I'm really hoping it's not a hardware fault. Thanks!
Revised version maintains core meaning while changing phrasing.
Connecting your secondary display to the graphics card may cause it to turn off or become unresponsive.
Are you linking a secondary screen to the DP or just another display in general? I've replaced my original monitor with a DP (Lenovo T24-v) for the T24-i, but the issue persists. I also have a second display connected via DVI on the GPU, which works perfectly without any problems. The third monitor through the iGPU is unaffected either. The blanking occurs very rarely, making troubleshooting nearly impossible—often requiring a full day of testing to confirm.
It's been a while since we last connected. I've been reaching out to AsRock and Gigabyte about different problems, but the blanking issue keeps appearing on my original AsRock motherboard. It seems to take around 9 hours of inactivity (as shown by Task Manager) for it to show up. I'm guessing the problem might be with the CPU or RAM.
I find it frustrating to revisit an old thread but have been struggling with RMA and troubleshooting for the past month. For testing, my PC interactions have been limited to OBS (to capture and replay at accelerated speeds) and Task Manager (for monitoring uptime). I’ve discovered several points: 1) the issue disappears when using a single monitor for 48 hours, 2) it doesn’t depend on which monitor is set as primary in Windows, 3) the problem isn’t present with my older 970 connected to the same monitors I usually use, and 4) after returning my 2060, the fault appears at 12:30 instead of 9:30. I’m really unsure what might be causing it. Right now I’m trying a swap test with two identical Lenovo monitors to determine if the problem lies with the panel or something else. If anyone has suggestions or insights, please share—I’m feeling quite confused.
I tried exchanging the two identical Lenovo monitors, but nothing changed. The one linked to DP remained blank. Even with a clock running in my recording, I couldn’t find anything in Event Viewer, Security, or System. It’s frustrating—though I haven’t swapped the DP cable yet, I still think it might be the problem since it worked when only DP was connected for 48 hours.
Have you checked if the timing matches any issues in your event viewer? Look for any display problems.
As discussed earlier, there wasn't any visible sign in the event viewer during the time of the blackout. Replacing the cable didn't resolve the problem. This RMA replacement GPU seems to cause more unpredictable issues, occurring at specific timestamps like 12:38:xx, 11:56:xx and 8:24:56 uptime, whereas before it was stable around 9:3x:xx. The next step would likely be to obtain another RAM unit from Amazon and test if that fixes the issue. Otherwise, the CPU might be the root cause.
