Hello everyone,
Until Sunday, 11/12, my microphone (AT2020) in OBS has been functioning properly, even with the filters I applied.
I use a compressor filter at standard settings for balanced sound, a limiter to prevent distortion, and a noise gate which I need to activate because I live in a small apartment.
The issue began on Sunday: suddenly my mic wouldn’t pick up my voice unless my mouth was directly in front of it, as if the noise gate had changed its behavior.
Disabling the noise gate fixes the problem. Restarting the computer and reapplying the noise gate filter resolves it again, but the problem returns within 10 to 15 minutes.
No changes have been made to my microphone, OBS, or system settings. I’ve tried updating OBS, restarting it, unplugging and plugging it back in, but the issue remains.
Thank you.

Maybe adjust the noise gate settings?
Reference: https://obsproject.com/kb/noise-gate-filter
If nothing has changed in software—like no Windows updates—then I’d focus on the microphone itself. It’s possible the mic has worn out, which explains why the noise gate is being used so aggressively. Trying it with a second mic that works would help determine if the problem lies with the hardware.

Adjusting the noise gate settings wouldn't solve the issue; it would only be a short-term fix that needs constant refinement whenever it fails, since the problem isn't always predictable.

Well, in this situation, either stop using the noise gate filter altogether (as it resolves your problem), or reach out to OBS for more detailed troubleshooting. After all, they created the software.

I didn't expect obs to have tech support, I'll give it a shot. Regarding your second comment, I'm not sure if it's about the hardware. Thanks for your assistance.

All trustworthy businesses offer customer assistance. For OBS, they provide Discord and forums,

Testing with a second microphone is essential to verify functionality. Additionally, equipment may malfunction unexpectedly, sometimes without clear cause.

The hardware is functioning properly. I mentioned it works well even without the filters I require. Regarding support, it appears there isn't a real team with a person to contact, which is what was expected.

To date, Windows Game Mode appears to be the cause.
No problems after disabling it. Results will be clear.

Don't worry, it's not Game Mode. It occurred three times yesterday while streaming.

It seems you haven't tried using the second mic, as you clearly don't want to use it due to hardware concerns.
