You're experiencing performance problems in Fallout 4, particularly when exploring certain areas. It seems the issue might be related to your graphics settings or mods. Most of the time you hit around 72fps indoors, but outside in the Commonwealth it drops to the 30s and 40s. You're not using any ENB or texture mods except Vivid Fallout for visual improvements. Recently you tried Optimized Vanilla Textures without success. Your graphics are set to 1080p, except for godrays which are off and shadow distance between ultra and high. You're running two 980s and a 4670k processor at 4GHz. It's possible SLI isn't enabled or something else is affecting performance. Consider checking your mod list, adjusting settings further, or trying a different configuration to see if it improves.

My settings are listed in my signature, and after the latest beta release I've experienced FPS problems. I've adjusted the auto-focus and aperture, reduced godrays, and turned off screen space reflections. Still, frame rates drop in both indoor and outdoor areas. Oddly enough, it's just like you—Far Harbour works great. (By the way, did you choose that username before Far Harbour launched? LOL!)

Maybe it’s not my fault after all. That offers a bit of comfort. And honestly, I’ve been labeled a Fallout fanboy and it’s not great.

It seems like the issue might be related to a gaming setup. While performance is okay in some areas, there are spots where it drops significantly—especially in crowded cities or when you're not using many graphical effects. Even with low settings, FPS can fall to 15-20. You might want to try playing without SLI and using just one 980 GPU, as that could be the problem.

I'll give it a shot and let me know what happens. I assumed it worked well with SLI too.

It could, I hadn't examined how F4 manages SLI, but reviewing it confirms it's fine and you can shift focus to other issues.

Thanks! I was almost ready to share, but you caught me first. Quick note: the game runs on the Samsung 850 EVO with 500GB SSD.
