Looking into Linux options beyond spyware is smart. I heard Ubuntu might have issues, but Arch Linux could work well for a workstation. For server needs, there are several choices beyond the typical ones.

The information suggests a feature related to searches on the desktop and online was disabled in Ubuntu 16.04, possibly addressed earlier. Further details may be limited to what was found in the search results.

I discovered this, everything indicated it was only with the desktop search feature. Not great, perhaps I'm used to how many OSes handle this better, especially since it helps avoid certain issues
