I understand this seems confusing, but after replacing my old PC, I discovered the previous installation included an OEM license key. Now I can't activate Windows, and I'm still working on getting a proper license. Essentially, how much time can I use Windows without activation?

You're unable to access certain functionalities. Is your system running Windows 8.1?

You might use an older PC with a W8 license key.

I reached out to Microsoft. I mentioned I have an OEM license and purchased a new machine. They resolved the issue smoothly.

I also attempted it, though I thought it was secured with the older computer.

The OEM license key remains tied to an earlier computer's motherboard unfortunately.

It used to be a 30-day assessment (similar to a trial).

It was Windows 7, and both keys were original equipment manufacturer parts.
