I developed my setup around five years ago and recently upgraded to a 2080ti with high FPS, though there are noticeable swings between 30-40 fps. My CPU is the 5820k and GPU is the 2080ti Mobo x99a MSI gaming PSU from Corsair 650x. RAM is 16GB. I’ve included a brief gameplay log for reference. Just want to confirm if any component is limiting performance—I think it’s likely just some differing opinions. HardwareMonitoring.hml

Your 5820k is fine. Fps changes are typical when gaming at around 100fps or during high-intensity scenes.

Not adjusted for overclocking yet, though these changes are noticeable—from 40 fps down to around 90, which is the minimum I see on my old 1060 M.S.I with a 6GB card. It’s hard to say what’s happening.

I would definitely say there's quite a big bottleneck. That's a discontinued 6 core CPU from 2014. I would personally recommend upgrading to a 3700x minimum, or if you are down to wait, a 4000 series equivalent. EDIT: What resolution are you playing?

It seems your GPU might be struggling due to low IPC counts, not just speed issues. Even if you open it, it still faces performance bottlenecks that cause stuttering frames. You’re likely hitting a limitation in how efficiently the processor handles tasks.

Curious about your choice? You bought a 2080Ti for 1080p gaming instead of saving money with a lower-end model. A 5700XT or 2070S would have been cheaper, and a 2080S at 1080p is overkill. Upgrading to 1440p later might feel like a better upgrade since higher resolutions can strain the GPU more than the CPU.
