Hello everyone, welcome back. I'm just starting out and have a few questions. Can we upgrade directly to the newest BIOS? I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600 (Matisse) on an AsRock B450 Steel Legend board. We purchased the CPU and motherboard in 2020, and the board came pre-installed with Ryzen 3000. I haven't updated the BIOS yet, and currently I'm using version P2.90. The latest version available on the board's site is 4.60. I've attached some pictures for reference. My main concern is that my R5 3600 has been running hot—temperatures have stayed around 95°C even with a Stealth cooler. After switching to an aftermarket cooler, temps dropped to 86-88°C, but still hover near 80°C. I've changed the thermal paste recently, yet usage stays high at 70-85% and temps remain elevated. I'm curious—should I update the BIOS myself, or is it better to install each version individually? Thanks for your help, Omkar.
If everything functions properly, updates are usually unnecessary. However, you can proceed if needed. Ensure no factors might disrupt the process (like performing it during a storm). For added security, use a UPS. Typically, you can download the latest version directly unless the site requires a specific prior installation (occasionally).

Disconnecting power during a flash operation might permanently damage the motherboard. Avoid risky actions and it should work out. Familiarize yourself with the older BIOS details, as newer versions include many additional fixes and improvements not listed in the release notes.
