I already had two full cables connected to the card. I used my last card since the pigtailed one prevented the side panel from connecting properly with the 3070ti. I’m hoping they won’t point it out to the 700w PSU. If I suspect it, I’d swap it out, but in the lower position it spikes up to 350watts without failing. Running it normally seems fine, though the temperatures climb into the high 80s in that spot and I’m not sure about keeping it that hot for extended periods.
Acknowledged, but the default configuration doesn’t support a 4x4 PCI setup. It appears the option is disabled. I’ll turn it off and test the card. Did you share the Steel Legend specifications from Asrock? No 4x4 PCI, so either you turned it on or the board decided to handle it independently.
Locate your system settings by checking the GPU section—specifically, the information comes from 'GPU-Z' and remains stable even when under stress. It impacts performance metrics like FPS during games and 3DMark scores.
in the bios check for PCI configurations and locate the bifrucation options. it enables splitting the 16 lanes into four groups of four, which is suitable for PCI cards supporting 4xSSD—each SSD needs four PCI lanes. verify whether your PCI slot operates at 4x4; if not, it might be causing problems. if the card previously worked but now fails at 4x4, it likely exceeds its specifications. adjusting the setting back to x16 should resolve the issue. a failure in the first lane could indicate an anomaly, driver problem, or simply incorrect reporting, but a 4x4 configuration is clearly not meeting requirements.
Called AMD for help and they advised I need a larger power supply for the full 16x lane. I’m hoping that’s the solution; otherwise I’ll go with the warranty.
I think I’ll need to provide a warranty because it keeps throttling when I try to run it in the lower slot. The 3070 Ti might be getting more use. I’m completely unbiased and plan to give it a try, though it’s not a great first impression.
It might not matter much, but if AMD is refusing warranty due to the power supply, there are other steps we can attempt. If you choose to try, it could take some time, but you'd be able to demonstrate more troubleshooting and confirm whether the issue lies with the power supply or the GPU.
