Ultimately, that decision lies outside our control. There are people who could manage AMD and Nvidia systems effectively. Ignoring the need for drivers will only cause friction between AMD and Nvidia, and believing a second GPU will ease the strain of a newer model is misguided. There’s also a risk someone overlooks the power consumption of their new hardware, treating it as safe. We must either address this issue to prevent potential hazards or educate others to avoid spreading danger. What do you think?

Avoid forcing power from one GPU onto another—this could damage components. Your current setup isn’t suitable for high-end GPUs like the 3070 or 3090. There aren’t many recent power supplies that handle the spikes you need. You’ll need a supply capable of managing those surges.

By the way, it seems some of your existing items might fit here.

I could be missing something valuable, but whenever I encounter a PSU wattage rating that isn’t a multiple of 50, I tend to guess it wasn’t the intended specification and adjust my expectations about its quality.

3070 model draws around 270 watts. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-g...io/29.html 3090 reaches up to 450 watts. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-...oc/29.html 5800x hits 5800 watts, 365 watts max. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-r...0x/19.html The maker claims TDP values aren't precise for these units—that's typical. If the build functions as intended, it works fine. However, with both GPUs drawing power from the same cable, the total could exceed 700 watts, which is impossible given the 8-pin connector's 150W rating. If you're paying for the 3090 and 3070, invest in a power supply that supports higher amperage.
