Consider your EZ/Q-flash method again. I received a Gigabyte B650 and had to return it for a repair (the first one since 2014...). They suggested just updating the UEFI to resolve a NO POST problem. After several attempts, I double-checked the steps to make sure I wasn’t making mistakes. This particular board is the fourth I’ve used with their Q-flash system, so it wasn’t a new experience... The way you format and choose your flash drive really impacts the outcome. There are some details in the instructions that aren’t fully explained, even though they should show a successful write. It’s possible the real issue lies with the original 3024 flash chip itself.

You’re asking about what a proper sign means during a flash operation. The indicator you see—like the LED turning off—is often recommended as the standard way to confirm the process is complete. However, it’s important to verify that the manufacturer’s guidelines match your specific drive model before assuming it’s correct.

I’ll need to revisit the EZ flash manual, as it will show clear signs of a working flash. My previous Asus board was an X670 Prime, and I didn’t update the UEFI either. It hasn’t required one yet, but I’m planning to restart it for updates soon: a sample sign of success.

This setup is ideal for compact USB2.0 drives offering 8GB or 16GB storage. It helps avoid problems with capacity or formatting when using specialized tasks.

It seems the sole partition available is the 2GB one. I'm attempting to use a free 2GB USB flash drive with a maximum speed of 5Mb/s, which I haven't used before. Let's find out what happens!

It was some time ago, yet I encountered a similar problem using a high-end USB 3.0 128GB flash drive, when such devices weren’t widely available. I remembered having to keep the more affordable 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB options for these tasks.

Tested using the 2.0 drive. Results aren't looking good...

They’re unsure about using FAT. Both ASUS guides suggest FAT32 and FAT16 might work, but the exact format could influence a successful BIOS update.

Other validations needed include whether you're utilizing the renamer tool included with the BIOS download. The steps are quite specific; Asus tends to have a more complex process. Download > Extract All > run .exe > copy and paste the renamed file onto a FAT32 formatted flash drive > complete the EZ Flash process. The USB port matters, but the best option might be one with a USB2 connection. [Motherboard] How to use USB BIOS FlashBack™? | Official Support | ASUS USA

Applying the renamer tool with the ‘BIOS’ label on the IO shield and in the manual.
