No one understands the issues with my PC. Can you?
Its a long story but i think its important to say because of the randomness of this problem. Bought new ram kit G-Skill Neo (2x16) 32gb 3600 16CAS. Installed it. Enabled XMP. Everything works fine for 2 weeks. One day after starting up my pc 2nd monitor doesn't turn on and GPU is not detected. Moved around the GPU and the RAM and next boot everything works good. This happened 2-3 times. Now lets go to today. Same thing happened only i cannot get the 2nd monitor to work and my GPU to be detected. Replugging everything didn't work. HERE IS THE WEIRD PART! Sometimes it might work and boot on windows but almost every time after a restart 2nd monitor and GPU are undetected. Both ram work individually on every slot.(pc boots fine and detects gpu) Just not together. When monitor is off, on device manager i can see my GPU but with an yellow ! meaning something is wrong. When everything is ok GPU is detected and looks normal on Device Manager. When i boot the pc with 2 ram sticks and monitor is off and gpu is undetected, bios and task manager see 32gb ram. had 2023 bios when it happened and installed latest just incase but nothing changed. I tested an other pair of ram (16gb 2x8 g-skill 3600 cas 18) and seemed to work but it might have been just luck that it booted. Edit: Confirmed old 16gb ram boots and works perfectly. While monitor and GPU are undetected only 1 video output works out of the 4. Got a new battery for the Mobo. Set stock BIOS settings. DDU and reinstalled drivers. EDIT: For fun I tried quad channel (2x16 + 2x8 =48gb) at 3200mhz and timing's 18-22-22-44. Pc works fine. Keep in mind that 2x16 at 2133 on slots 2 and 4 will boot but 2nd monitoris off and gpu undetected by AMD Adrenaline(I've tried 1 and 3 too). Specs: Ryzen 5600X B550 Aorus Elite V2 (Rev 1.0) 32GB ram 3600 cas 16 G-skill trident Z neo (C-die)/16 GB 3600 cas 18 G-skill trident RGB (c-die) 6600xt 550W XFX XT (i know its low Watt i'll upgrade soon) 2SSD 1NVME 2HDD Windows 11
This seems like a strange problem. Have you attempted disabling XMP before? Also, does your primary monitor function properly? If yes, is it connected to your GPU? When the monitor works with the main GPU but the GPU itself isn't detected, it likely points to a driver issue—consider updating it. Please share your results, and I'm here to help!
I'm encountering this for the first time ever. Usually I'm the one who gets called for PC issues, but now I'm the one needing assistance. I already installed DDU and the latest drivers, but I only have one GPU. Right now I'm testing a single version. Also, my PC started with 32GB RAM and everything appears fine. When I power on XMP, everything breaks. I've manually adjusted the timings, voltages, FCLK, and it worked initially after a restart. Now I'm using Windows with 32GB at default settings, and it seems to run without problems. However, an app in Device Manager shows my GPU but displays a yellow warning, indicating something is off.
Based on what you mentioned, it seems like the issue could be related to voltage-related damage of RAM modules or worn-out imc on your CPU. We should also consider the role of the motherboard BIOS. You might want to try updating the previous BIOS version and reapplying XMP settings. Newer BIOS firmware usually improves performance, but these developers... The yellow triangle often indicates an error code—searching it online could provide more details.
Either your sticks are dead or your CPU overheated. I’d say it was the CPU that failed. Sticks don’t usually die like that.
IMC can be prepared and cooked normally, including your 2x8 3600 cas 18. You’re currently using manual voltage settings, which is fine for your setup.
For a bit of humor, I tried the quad channel setup and now my PC is working smoothly with 48GB RAM at 3200MHz and specific timing settings—still after several restarts. What’s really happening?
Yes, 16GB RAM on double-sided slots can cause performance issues and may stress the system. The 3200C18 model is similar to the default 3200C22, so make sure your RAM fits in the right slots. Cleaning any oxidation from the RAM can help. If you're using a dual-slot board, ensure the correct RAM type is installed. You might need to swap the positions of the RAM sticks—swapping A and B won’t work if you’re on a two-slot board. XMP settings mainly control timing and frequency, but the new BIOS might have miscalculated voltage for auto-boost. As long as it works, it’s acceptable.
